My Creative Space..

is still bags, bags, bags and sewing, sewing, sewing but it's also a little about this too...

Knitting and crochet is something I pull out when the mood and motivation to sew is just not in me. I'm playing with a cute little design for the next market I'm heading to. I might even finish the first one over the weekend..who knows :-P

And just to show you that I have been sewing bags, here is a tote bag I finished up last night...

Looking for more inspiration? Why not grab a cuppa and head over to Kootoyoo and click through some of the amazing blogs linked there. I know that's what I'm going to do a little later today :-)

Little Levi

Levi is 7 1/2 months old already...crazy, right?

He's hit a few milestones over the last two months - he's rolling around, and moving around a lot. One minute he's on the lounge room rug, the next minute he's heading towards the kitchen. Levi is going to be quite a handful once he masters crawling, I think.

Levi can sit by himself quite confidently now. He's also started pushing himself up on his toes, and just yesterday starting testing out his knees. Not long now!

Alannah has the knack of being able to make him laugh big belly laughs, which is very cute to watch.

Levi is babbling lots of word-sounding noises, but nothing distinguishable yet.

Oh, and he has the most crazy mop of curls on his head, which gets comments almost everywhere we go :-)...I love it!

Levi is the perfect last addition to our little family.

My Creative Space..

I've been cutting fabric....a lot of fabric....

There are tote bags...

and Sienna bags...

and Library bags....

and Juliet bags, and the little petal bags....

and then, with any scraps, I've been cutting them into 4 3/4 inch squares or 3 3/4 inch squares, all ready for a random quilt project. Fun, fun!

I also managed to finish off a new Juliet bag....

So lots of projects for me to sew up over the next weeks, all in preparation for the December Mulgrave Makers Market.

Many more interesting and inspiring creative spaces over here.

Matisse to Make With

I'm just madly in love with the new Alexander Henry range called 'Matisse', using designs by the awesomely talented Henri Matisse. I have been a fan of Matisse since I was an art student in high school, so I am super happy to see his designs in the medium of fabric....

So beautiful.....

Friday Happy Hour..

The thing that just makes me all jelly & excited inside at the moment, is the fact that we are finally, nearly finished the house...eek! woo hoo!

It's been almost 2 years since the first hole was dug, and the new stumps went in. There has been adventurous everyday living, possums chased away from our food in our make-do kitchen, lots of highs and plenty of lows, and the added little surprise of Levi. So it's been a full on couple of years, and to think we are nearing the end of 'the build' is quite exciting.

Why not join in with Eleesa, and post something that has made you happy this week?

My Creative Space..

Wow...so it's been a week already, and I haven't blogged between Creative Spaces...oopsie :-P

It's been a busy week really, and with a bout of food poisoning yesterday, my week has been thrown all out.

But here's a bit of what I've been working on...

I made some bags using the Modkids 'Emma' pattern. The first one I made (the pink one above) is for Alannah, as I've also cut out a Modkids 'Frida' top in the matching fabrics. But once I realised how sweet they were, I just had to make some more....

And on the more practical side, the spring weather is finally kicking in, here in Melbourne, so hubby and I have been trying to finish up the exterior paint job. My job this week is the interior and exterior of the front door & side window.

This door is now externally 'Foam Frost' to match the external windows, and the interior is one coat in of 'Pale Mushroom'. 2nd coat to go on today...I'm loving the freshness of the white tones but am not sure how sensible the colour choice is with 3 kids....oh well :-)

Anything creative happening in your corner of the world today? I'm sure you'll find a load of inspirational blog posts over at Kirsty's so why not check it out....

My Creative Space..

is a little bit about crochet...

and hopefully a little bit about sewing...

These two patterns arrived in my mailbox yesterday, and I'm itching to make something from them...either of them. Just loving that Modkids patterns now go to size 10 - yay!

Oh, and I finished this little project off. She's a bunny, although a seal is quite a cute idea :-). I just like to do the embroidery part of the face before I assemble although that's not what the pattern says to do....whatever works best for you, as long as it gets done, right?

More crafters, creaters, crocheters and so much more over here today.

Clumsy Crocheter Alert!

Now, this is what happens when multi-tasking turns around and bites you in the bottom - an injury! Obviously it's not a major injury by any means, but it did warrant a hand to the cheek and some muttering of 'ow, ow, ow, ow and ow' and of course, a smidgeon of sympathy from my dear hubby was essential :-P...

Now you may be asking 'how ?'... well, I was watching a movie with Roh, while assembling my crochet vintage rose baby blanket (yay - finally!) with an overstitch, thus the needle, and was too focused on the movie and the actual crochet in my lap to pay any attention to where my right hand was going with the needle, and this is the result - whoops! And again - ow! :-P

Ok...moving on.

I've been doing a bit of making this long weekend...how about you?

Saturday arvo I put this fabric basket together. The original pattern made minimal sense, so I went ahead and figured it out myself. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, but next time I would use a stiffer interfacing so it would sit up a bit better, and make it a little shorter. But this one does fit my patterns in it nicely :-)

I also finished off this repurposed handbag for a customer and friend. The outer fabric is from a knitted shawl that I picked up at an op shop, lined in cotton, and finished off with a crochet flower brooch. It has that spring feel, don't you think?

And lastly, this project has been taking up most of my spare minutes these last two days. It's for an adorable little girl who is about to become a big sister and it's nearly finished. And I have finally mastered the french knot using this tutorial at Sublime Stitching.

Pattern taken from the 'Kaleidoscope' book by Melly & Me.

Clumsy Crafter signing off...he he
